At the end of each Afterschool Art Class session, there is a public show displaying the student’s work.

spring13

Spring ‘13 Student Art Exhibit
Opening Reception Saturday, May 18, 2013
4 - 7pm at Warehouse 21 Appetizers and beverages will be served. Music by DJ Pepe Stilo.
The exhibit will be on display until May 31, 2013.

Students ages 5-9 studied Traditional Retablos, watercolor and ink on pine wood; Alexander Calder, wire, mixed media; Paul Klee, water color and ink on paper; Roy Lichtenstein, acrylic on canvas; James Whistler, chalk paster on paper; Mary Cassatt, self portraits graffite on paper; and Mark Rothko, oil pastel on paper.

Students age 9-13 studied Traditional Retablos, water color and ink on pine wood; DR. Seuss, pine wood and mixed media; Exploration of fused glass; Paul Klee, burlap plaster ink and wax, wax encaustic and mixed media.

jackson Fall ‘12 Student Art Exhibit
Opening Reception Saturday, January 26, 2013
4 - 7pm at Warehouse 21 Appetizers and beverages will be served. Music by DJ Pepe Stilo.
The exhibit will be on display January 26- February 1, 2013.

Students ages 6-9 studied Georges Seurat, acrylic on canvas; Maria Martinez, clay; Jacob Lawrence, tempra on cardboard; Camille Pissaro, watercolor on paper; Georgia O’keeffe,
chalk pastel; and Leonardo da Vinci, pencil on paper self-portraits.

Students ages 9-12 studied Henri Moore, carved soap stone; Joseph Cornell, assemblage;
Marc Chagall, acrylic on canvas; and Leonardo da Vinci, self-portraits with pencil on paper.

spring2012 Winter ‘12 Student Art Exhibit
Opening Reception Saturday, May 19, 2012

The exhibit will be on display May 19- May 23, 2012.
This show featured student's work from the Winter 2011 Session.

Students ages 6-9 studied M.C. Escher, cut paper on board; Frida Kahlo, self portraits with graphite and water color on paper; Auguste Rodin, clay; Grandma Moses, acrylic on canvas; Martin Ramirez, layered paper with crayon and pencil; Henri Matisse; cut paper; and Paul Cezanne, still life oil pastel.

Students ages 9-12 studied Man Ray, rayographs on fabric; they learned the history of Rug Hooking and created a small rug; studied Tim Burton and chose a medium to work with inspired by him: clay, t-shirt design, pen and ink, or water color; and they learned the history of ships in a bottle and made a paper ship in a bottle.

fall Fall ‘11 Student Art Exhibit

4 - 7pm at Warehouse 21 Appetizers and beverages will be served. Music by Pablo 77.
The exhibit will be on display January 28- February 12, 2012.

Students ages 6-8 studied Paula Rego, ink on paper; Camille Pissaro, self portraits with graphite on paper; Paul Klee, plaster on burlap with mixed media; Marc Chagall, acrylic canvas; Alejandro Otero, woven paper and Winslow Homer, block printing ink on paper.

Students ages 9-11 studied Adolf Konrad, water color on paper and Huichol bead bowls, bees wax goards and glass beads. They learned about etching and how to create prints of their etchings.
And, each student chose an artist and did a self-portrait in the style of that artist.

Students ages 6-10 studied Edgar Degas using chalk pastel; Roy Lichtenstein using acrylic on canvas; Frank Lloyd Wright using plexie glass with glass paint; Diego Rivera’s Fresco painting using water color on plaster; Frida Kahlo’s self-portraits using grafite on paper with watercolor; Jackson Pollock using acrylic on canvas; and Henri Gaudier-Brzeska’s carved soap stone.

Students ages 10-15 studied Roy Lichtenstein using acrylic on canvas; Quilt making; Wood panel painitngs; and glass melting and jewerly making.

This show featured student's work from the Fall 2010 Session.

Students ages 6-10 studied Henri Matisse and his style of cut paper; Alexander Calder with wire and textiles; Traditional Aboriginal painting using traditional symbols, acrylic paint and creating a story on bark-like paper; Da Vinci and self portraits with graphite on paper; Vincent Van Gogh using acrylic on canvas; and Claude Monet’s still-lifes with oil pastel.

Students ages 10-15 studied Banksy, creating several stencils and transfering their work on t-shirts and posters; Amsterdam Elephant parade where they created their own composition
on a sculpture of an elephant; and they learned how to use oil pastels using the traditional techniques and processes of oil painting.

Students ages 6-10 studied various artists such as Marc Chagall, Paul Cézanne, James Whistler, Robert Indiana, Salvador Dali, Louise Bourgeois, Judy Pfaff, and Jean-Michel Basquiat. They explored various mediums including acrylic paint, oil and chalk pastels, wire and cardboard, cut paper, watercolor, collague, wood, plaster, and oil pastel paint on cardboard.

Students ages 10-15 studied local artist and paper engineer Andrew Baron of Papyrus Studio in Santa Fe. They designed their own pop-up book and fine-tuned the mechanics of their book from Andrew Baron himself! They also studied the history of printmaking and created block prints, studied and explored wax encaustic painting, and painted with ink and water colors while studying artist Charles Demuth.

This show featured student's work from the Winter 2009 Session.
Students ages 6-13 studied art history, learned new techniques and worked with a variety of mediums and materials throughout the Winter 2009 semester. This show featured inspired works in soap stone, reverse glass painting, oil and chalk pastels, acrylics, watercolor and collage.
